UNDP, Fortis announce greenhouse-gas reduction projects (21 February 2008)

Manna Energy’s Project in Rwanda is a shining example of how the UNDP and Fortis alliance can be successful.  It is the first organization ever to attempt to qualify for United Nations carbon credits based on the treatment of water to address public health needs.

Evan ThomasOn behalf of EWB-USA JSC Chapter, Manna’s own Evan Thomas accepts the 2007 Energy Globe award in Brussels from the Vice President of the European Union.  Go Evan!!!

Manna Energy Foundation is very proud to put the spotlight on the achievements of one of our own team members, Evan Thomas.  Evan has been actively involved with Engineers Without Borders-USA (both with the Colorado University and Johnson Space Center Chapters) since 2002, and he is a founding director of the Manna Energy Foundation and has been supporting Manna projects in Rwanda since 2006.  Evan is committed to improving the lives of people around the world and is demonstrating this commitment through his work helping to provide clean water to people who need it to survive and thrive. 

As a member of the EWB and Manna teams, Evan has been recognized numerous times for his involvement in humanitarian projects, and he is currently a finalist for both the:
-- 2007 National Collegiate Inventors Competition for the “Rwanda Bring Your Own Water
   Treatment System” (www.invent.org/collegiate/overview.html), and
-- 2008 Do Something BR!CK Award.  (www.dosomething.org/brick)

Everyone at Manna is thankful for the role Evan has played as a leader amongst the Manna team!  We believe that Evan is most deserving of this recognition, and obviously there are many others out there who agree!
